(ARA) - Choosing the
group of men who will stand up with you on your
wedding day isn't as easy as it might seem. There
are many things to consider when choosing your
groomsmen which we've outlined below.
THE BEST
MAN
The most
important groomsman is the Best Man. Your choice
for a best man will probably be pretty obvious.
He will most likely be your closest and most
dependable friend and is the male version of the
Maid of Honor. It is common for a groom to
choose his brother as his Best Man.
DUTIES
Some typical Best Man responsibilities.
-Organize a
Bachelor Night Party for the groom
-Rent and pay for a tuxedo and go for a fitting
-Be prepared to stand in on many photo shoots
-Ensure the groom gets to the church on time
-Remember the rings and pass them to the groom
at the exchange of rings during the ceremony.
-Make the first toast to the bride and groom
-Sign the marriage certificate
-Pass the check/cash onto the officiant/priest/minister
before the ceremony
-Dance with the Maid of Honor
GROOMSMEN
These are the men you’ve shared your past with
are the best choices for your groomsmen. To
affirm a new family bond, you might even want to
consider asking your bride's brothers to be one
of your groomsmen.
Most of your
friends will not be too upset if you choose a
family member over them. The hard part will be
picking groomsmen from your closest friends. The
decision maker may come down to which of the
guys you’ve know the longest or who is more
reliable.
