(ARA) - When the
guest list is decided upon, the next task is to
consider the invitations. It used to be
tradition that the invites were sent by the
bride's parents, but as a general rule, the
hosts of the wedding whether it be the parents
or the bride and groom to be the ones to send
out the invitations.
When
should the invitations be sent out?
Invitations should be sent 6-8 weeks before the
date of the wedding. This allows time for guests
to respond and also make any arrangements
required.
Are
invitations sent to the bridal party?
All your bridesmaids and attendants should be
sent invitations even if they have already
agreed to their roles. The groom's parents
should also be sent an invitation and it is good
etiquette to invite the minister or officiant..
How are
invitations worded?
The wording of an invitation will usually depend
on the formality of the wedding and the
relationship with the guests being invited. The
invitations should mention style of suitable
dress style.
The most
popular wording for a formal invitation is:
|
Mr.
and Mrs. John Grey Taylor
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Helen Marie
and
Mr. Raymond Michael Mitchell
Friday, the fourth of June
Two
thousand and two
at six o'clock in the evening
Presbyterian Church
Columbia, South Carolina |
Invitations are
most often printed, but if your guest list is
small, invitations may be hand-written on nice
stationery.
