# 1 Destination Weddings
Many couples are deciding to go to their honeymoon location to get married.  They only invite close family and friends to attend.  This saves a lot of money, time and LOTS of STRESS!!!

# 2 Butterfly or Dove Release
If you want to be different, release butterflies or doves as you are coming out of the church or leaving the reception.  It will definitely be different and something special that everyone will always remember.

# 3 Wedding Themes
Many couples are choosing a theme for their weddings day.  It has become very popular over the past few years.  Here are just a few wedding themes that couples are using.......
Irish/Scottish Fairy Tale Valentine
Cultural/Heritage Western Double
Christmas/Winter Medieval All-Night
Beach/Water Military Weekend
Halloween/Fall Victorian Surprise

# 4 Wedding Locations

Most couples get married in a church or synagogue, but there are many different venues to choose from.  Many couples decide to get married where they first met or a special place that holds a special memory for them.  Many couples choose the university/college chapel or courtyard that they met.  The decision is all yours.  In some religions (i.e. Catholic), weddings can only be preformed in a place of worship (church or chapel).  Therefore, you can't plan an outdoor wedding if you want to be married by a Catholic Priest.  Discuss your thoughts with your minister/priest.

Here are just a few ceremony locations that are popular today...

Aquarium Mountain side  Boat/Yacht College Chapel
Beach Pier Military Club Cruise Ship
Orchard Tropical Islands Private Club Winery/vineyard
Park Courtyard Museum/Art Gallery Hotel Ballroom
Garden Historic Plantation/House Theme Park (Disney, etc..) Lighthouse

# 5 A Picture Collage of Bride and Groom
Start collecting pictures of yourself and your groom a few months before the wedding.  Glue them on a nice piece of poster board to be displayed at your reception.  These pictures can include baby pictures of you and the groom or pictures of you both throughout your relationship.

# 6 Give Gifts to the Guests
The floral table centerpieces can be given to wedding guests.  The lucky guest sitting at the table whose birthday is closest to the wedding day wins the centerpiece.

# 7 No More RICE
Rice is dangerous for birds.  Brides are choosing to have their guest either throw bird seed or blow bubbles.  Blowing bubbles gets the children involved.

# 8 Walking Down the Aisle
A new trend is to be escorted down the aisle by BOTH parents, by just the mother (if father has died or not apart of life of bride), go by yourself, or meet your groom halfway down and be escorted by him the rest of the way.

# 9 Recording your Reception Music for a Keepsake
Discuss with the DJ or Band about having a recording of the music played at your reception.  You can use this tape for future anniversary celebrations in years to come.

#10 Wedding Newsletters
Many brides are beginning to send out wedding newsletters to keep family and friends up to date with news and plans.  Newsletters can save you from making numerous phone calls.  You can send one out every other month via e-mail.  You can included information such as when bridesmaids  and groomsmen need to get together for fittings, give information about yourself and the groom, a schedule of events for the wedding weekend and much more.  Use it to your advantage!

................here are a few more mentionable trends!!
  Preserving the Bridal Bouquet
Today's Brides are preserving their bouquets for a keepsake.  Discuss with the florist about preserving the bouquet.  You can dry the bouquet yourself by hanging the bouquet upside down in a dark place.  After the flowers are dry, spray the flowers with silica gel or shellac for protection.

Bridesmaids Dresses
If your bridesmaids are all different sizes, a new trend is to have them buy matching material and have them choose their own flattering pattern to be made into a dress.  They can all choose different patterns but make sure the dresses aren't to drastic from each other.

Hand Tied Bouquets
This is becoming very popular.  Hand tied bouquets look fresher and natural.  They are perfect for outdoor or garden weddings.  They are also less expensive because they take less time to arrange and put together.

Donations to a Charity
Many couples today already have a house set up.  Therefore, they do not need flatware or sheets.  Instead of registering for gifts, request donations be made to one of your favorite charities.  (Humane Society, Red Cross, American Cancer Society, etc.....)
