Q.  What does the Bride and her family have to pay for?--Conway, SC

A.   The bride pays for the groom's wedding ring and gift; a gift for her bridal party; and their bouquets for the wedding.  Her family pays for the wedding dress, veil and accessories; invitations and all stationery needs; transportation for wedding party, the cost of the ceremony and reception, photography and videography; guest book/favors; and wedding consultant if needed.

Q.  Who pays for the accommodations of the out-of-town guests?--Summerville, SC

A.  They pay for their own accommodations.

Q.  What area of the wedding do you think I could try to save some money? --James Island, SC

A.  Your reception.  It will be about 50% of the average budget.  You can try to find a few ways to save here and there.

Q.  What are some ways that I can save money on our wedding? --Columbia, SC

A.  Well, what about having a Friday or Sunday wedding...or how about a morning wedding.  You can make your own invitations.  You can make your own veil.  You could make your own favors.  You could also arrange your own flowers....you would need to get a book to teach you how incase you don't have a sweet aunt that could do it.

Q.  How do we get started on creating a budget? --Mauldin, SC

A.  You both need to sit down and discuss how much you want to spend on the wedding.  You also need to talk to both sets of parents to find out how much they will be contributing.  Once you come up with a number...work with that.  Do not go over.  All it will do is cause a problem.  You need to make priorities.  Decide what is a must and what you can do without.  Once you figure out the MUSTS, then you can work your budget around for everything else.
